You don’t have to prepare detailed meals eaten at a particular time. No special trips to the grocery store no membership dues just you and the replacement water. I was always concerned about getting stuck in the rain. I had thoughts of getting stuck in a thunderstorm while riding on my bike. Always checking the weather forecast for possible downpours in my area. Looking in the sky for ominous clouds listening for the sound of thunder. It was a real hassle, and made me feel very uncomfortable and nervous. I signed up-for a century ride ( 100 miles ) in our town, and was anticipating a great forecasted day. After beginning our tremendous beautiful bicycle ride at the start line, it began to rain ever so lightly. Just sprinkles at first then rain drops next then an outright heavy downpour including lightning and thunder. Invisible potholes filled water, fishtail water around bicycle wheels, and river banks swollen.

I had serious thoughts about giving up the century ride. Then I saw others who were riding with me on the drenched highway. I saw men and women off all age groups progressing towards the goal of 100 miles. I thought that if these folks were pedaling in the rain and are great cyclists. I can ride in the rain just like them. I eventually made it through the entire gauntlet with my goal of 100 miles complete. After thinking about what happened that day, it was not about riding 100 miles as an accomplishment it was overcoming my fear of water. Now it’s a permanent reminder that water could be your friend. If you want to lose weight and experience more fitness drinking water might be a good start.
