Riding the pinnacle in Cumberland Gap is a great experience that gives bicycle enthusiasts a great workout, breathtaking views, and a sense of silence.
My first time riding the the pinnacle offered a lot of hope and excitement seeing that it’s a bucket list ride. If I could successfully ride the pinnacle, navigate the road’s curvy highway, I could post the accomplishment to social media. The idea was novice perhaps invoking lots of imagination.
The attempted ride was rather hard with lots of heavy breathing. Much sweating and lots of perspiration soaking my cycling outfit. Socks gloves sun glasses and hair were all dowsed with H2O. I was transformed into a different person than what was seen earlier in the morning. If I could make it to the top everything would be alright.
However, I had to get off the bike several times and start walking. I estimate that it must have been nearly 20 times. Ride a little ways get off and walk. Stop. Ride a short distance then walk again. I was embarrassed. Cars passing and making fun of my riding skills. Hoping that no photos were being taken. It was definitely a risk.
I eventually made it to the top of Pinnacle. Did not give up. Didn’t give in. I made it all the way, and I actually pedaled the final few feet. Breathing as hard as I could. Great sweat drops pouring down my face. I did not quit. My goal was completed. Accomplishment was great. I decided to continue riding the Pinnacle in Cumberland Gap. I decided to lose more weight. Further training. Future goals faster times. Didn’t want to stop along the way. Please stay tuned for part 2 of riding the pinnacle
Maybe I can help you ride to the top
